A returning tide.

About 12 years ago I created a body of work while experimenting with vintage camera lenses. I discovered a way to transform small, relatively plain looking beachcombing finds. Sometimes the results were a peaceful still life. Other attempts projected an abrupt energy. All of them employed an unusually shallow depth of field.
This body of work was a satisfying personal project. And here I am revisiting this approach years later, but adding a layer of unpredictable light. Directed, reflected, refracted and light just bouncing all over the place, waiting to see where it lands. I love the unpredictability of the process. I also do not like the unpredictability of the process. You never know what's going to happen!
On October 1, I will release the first wave of this new personal work titled Swimming in Light. I'm excited for everyone to see the results of this random dance.
